Chilean Street Dog

CHILEAN STREET DOG: 1    - ELDER VINCENT: 0

Hola,

I don't have much time but life has never been better.  We continue to work hard and have been very blessed.

A few highlights from this week are:

1) 2 great intercambios with Elder Apancio (Spain) and Macdonald (USA).  Got to learn a ton from them.

2) We were walking in the street and a dog came at us barking.  My companion took off his backpack to use it as a shield and I told him not to worry and that it wouldn't actually bite and I kept walking.  Five seconds later it bit me super hard in the back of the leg.  First I made sure that the dog had run away, then made sure my Lululemon pants were ok, then checked my leg to see how bad the bite was.  There was barely any blood so I'm fine.  My leg is kind of sore but I'm totally fine.  Gotta love these Chilean street dogs.

3) Record number of people in church this Sunday as a zone.  Everyone is ready to hear/see/meet the Prophet next week at the Temple dedication!!!

Life is awesome.  We have people progressing and we are seeing countless miracles.  Thank you for the love and support  And shout out to my amazing, beautiful mother who turned 25 this week!  I love you mama!

Noberto

Hola!

Another successful week here in Cruz del Sur.

-Tuesday I had a solid intercambio with Elder Toledo from Ecuador where we got some good work in and were able to help a golden family (Marina and her kids Florencia and Alejandro) accept a baptism date for a few weeks from now.  Thanks to the temple another family can be united forever.
-Thursday another intercambio with Elder Ashton.  He now has 4 months in Chile and has shown incredible progress thanks to his obedience and hard work.  He has taught me a ton.

-Saturday I had the honor of baptizing my great friend Noberto, a man who has had so many trials and problems in his life and is now doing his part to help establish Zion here in Chile.  He is truly an inspiration to me.

-On Sunday we had a very successful day as a zone bringing tons of new people to church to start their path towards baptism.  We finished the day in a noche de hogar with our Venezulana family where we made Venezuelan and American food:  arepas and PB+J.

Life could not be better here in Chile.  Especially with all of our preparation now to receive the prophet in 2 weeks.  Living the gospel really does bring true joy.

With love,
Elder Vincent

I know that which the Lord hath commanded me, and I glory in it.  I do not glory of myself, but I glory in that which the Lord hath commanded me; yea, and this is my glory, that perhaps I may be an instrument in the hands of God to bring some soul to repentance; and this is my joy.   Alma 29:9

Another busy week

Another busy week -

A dog partially destroyed my shoes.  I thought they were fine, but a very generous member saw them and bought new shoes for me.  I should have worn them in a little at a time!

Late Night Temple Runs

 Hey Everyone,

We have been doing well and working really hard.  We are currently teaching a family of 5, another family of 4 from Venezuela, and a couple other people.  I continue to have incredible experiences every day here with my pueblo Cruz del Sur, but here are a few highlights of this week:

1) On Monday we got to go to the Temple with 2 of my converts Anita and Fadiles.  They got baptized 2 weeks apart, met each other at church, and are now best friends, strengthening and encouraging each other in the gospel.

2) Had a very powerful baptismal interview with my friend Noberto who recently had problems in his marriage and as a result lost his house, job, children, etc.  He has lost everything, but by choosing to be baptized, in reality, has found everything.  (Jacob 2:8)

3) Saturday night we went to the temple with our family from Venezuela.  We were really late and got to the temple after the last tour, but thanks to an old friend from Valle Hermoso we got to go in after it closed for a private tour.  Of the 10,300 people who passed through the temple on Saturday, we were the only ones in the building.  There is no better feeling than in the temple, seeing a family, who has struggled so much and faced so many challenges in their country, with tears rolling down their face, feeling the peace and joy that comes from knowing that families can be together forever.

These are the 2 most important years of my life, every second of every day dedicated to bringing lost souls unto Christ.  And what a blessing it is.

"Wherefore, how great the importance to make these things known unto the inhabitants of the earth, that they may know that there is no flesh that can dwell in the presence of God, save it be through the merits, and mercy, and grace of the Holy Messiah, who layeth down his life according to the flesh, and taketh it again by the power of the Spirit, that he may bring to pass the resurrection of the dead, being the first that should rise." (2 Nephi 2: 8)
